ÉLISE TANDÉ

Élise Tandé was born in France and moved to Málaga (Spain) at the age of 8. From a young age, she dreamed of breaking into the world of film, and as an adult, she completed a Higher Diploma (Grado Superior) in Audiovisual Communication at the University of Málaga.

“At the age of six, I could hear Hitchcock’s soundtracks playing in my mind while I would imagine myself dancing next to Fred Astaire or singing with Marylin Monroe. After watching The Rear Window, like Cary Grant, I wanted to seek out the world behind lenses”.

After graduating, Élise began collaborating on various fiction projects with filmmakers from Málaga. She started out as an art director on short films such as “Matryoshka” and “Una Noche en el Endeavour,” and also worked on several commercials.

“Working as an art director brought me a great experience about filming and creating the ambience of a film, although I was more interested in the Production Design, a necessary and very important role when one wants to bring some proper depth visually to the story”.

Later, she began producing her own projects, ranging from music videos to other formats such as the fiction short “Covidian Dream,” which earned several international awards and mentions at festivals including the Toronto International Women Film Festival, the Cannes Indies Cinema Awards Festival, and even the Chicago Indie Film Awards.

“Covidian Dream was my salvation to the pandemic, I had a brand new camera I needed to put to work and I desperately wanted to learn more about editing. This was the perfect excuse to practice. Besides I also wanted to explore more surrealism through the script and image”.

Later on she started on a documentary project which is currently still being screened at various events nationwide. It’s a 16-minute documentary titled “Esperanza,” produced for local television.

” The documentary genre is fascinating and I would like to explore it further but after filming Esperanza, I had a story in mind and fiction called me back again”

That story is her latest project and, for the first time, Tandé ventured herself in her first produced short film “Ghosting Among Ghosts”.

“The hardest part was the production of it, but thanks to Christova/Hardymon Art’s trust in my project and the crowdfunding campaign, I was ready to manage a proper team for making it real”.

The work of Tandé in that project consisted in writing, producing, directing and also editing the film. The premiere was done in the prestigious Festival de Málaga in its 29th edition and has now three awards, one as best short social impact film, another one as best short script and, it also won an award as best original music. “Ghosting Among Ghosts” is currently in the distribution phase, being selected in international film festivals, her work is gaining a promising recognition worldwide.

“I had never worked as hard for a personal project so far and I learned more than I could ever imagine. It was challenging and at the same time fantastic to work with a wonderful and talented team of more than 30 persons. Now I just want to put all this knowledge back into my profession, I feel ready to create again”.
